Worship-Dance With Holy Music

Within the book of Psalms you will discover the word Selah (Psalm 32:5).  Selah  means stop or pause and give thought to what is being said or sung. While pausing, words are not spoken nor sung, yet the instruments continue to play. With the playing of musical instruments worship to the Lord continues. Such times are perfect for creating dance.

The evangelistic dancer is the dancer who uses the gift of dance as a route for reaching the lost. The type of songs to consider for this type of dance are songs that honor God.  Such songs must also uplift Jesus, and emphasis the wonderful and loving sacrifice that He made  for us on the cross.

The dancing evangelist incorporates prayer and altar call in the dance, so that people will have the opportunity to receive Christ as Lord and savior.

Worship Dance Choreography

Levels

Low, Medium and High

It is essential that the worship dance not be monotone or on one level. Several levels are available. There is the low or floor level. You can bow low toward the floor. You can lie on the floor. There is low on your knees  which is a slightly higher level. Also you can bend your knee in a lunge or plie. Just walking, plainly flat-footed walking is a medium level. Doing a locomotive movement flat-footed is medium level. Then there is high level: the ball of your feet, on releve, half point or in the air.

21 Days of Worship Dance/Day 21

Worship Dance is a response to God's Redemption, love and reconciliation.

 

Luke 15:20-25

 ²⁰And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

 ²¹And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

 ²²But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

 ²³And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

 ²⁴For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

 ²⁵Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

In Jesus's parable of the lost son. As the  father saw his Son returning home he called a celebration. At that celebration the father  commissioned music and dance. The dance is a biblical response to redemption, love and reconciliation.

Let us dance the dance of redemption.

21 Days of Worship Dance/Day20

The art of the worship dance solo.

I have heard many preachers say that they make sure that they always have a sermon ready in there Bible. Well I feel that a dance minister should always have a solo ready in their CD wallet. If you have an excellent solo prepared  at all times, then you will be ready for an unexpected open door to minister.

I have listed 5 tips on the art of the solo.

1. Chose music that goes with your technical dance skill level.

    A beginner should stay with short songs.  Narratives, or worship choruses with a single        vocalist or small vocal ensemble are best.

2. Pursue dancing with a live psalmist or vocalist. It is very effective for a soloist to dance accompanied by live music.

 

3. Be aware of spacing do not throw yourself back and forth so that your audience feels like they   are watching a tennis match.  A soloist use of spacing and direction is much more simplified than a group dance peace.

4. Interact with the audience. Draw them in and let them worship with you. Do not make it seem as though they are looking at you from the outside. Your solo is not a time for your personal devotion. It is a time for you to give to the Lord and lead others into worship.

5. Relax and enjoy worshipping the Lord do not worry about the people looking at you. Remember if you lift  Jesus up ,Jesus will draw the people to himself.

Always remember the Cross.

Jesus we thank you for dying for us so that we can live.

I just recently saw a movie about a man that donated his, eyes, and heart to 2 people.
Before he decided who to give his organs  he researched and found 2 people that he felt were "good" and deserved it.
Iam so thankful that when Jesus checked me out and saw that I was not good, He still gave His life for me.

God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that who ever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Rejuvenate your spirit and body.

The dance ministry is very physically, mentally and spiritually demanding. Thus; it is  important for the worship-praise dancer to take time  to rejuvenate the spirit, mind,soul and body. One of the most effective ways to do this is by attending dance ministry conferences. Are you planning to go to a conference this year? You should. You need it and you deserve it. God wants to rejuvenate  you.
